Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a family of thousands of chemicals that vary widely in their chemical and physical properties, as well as their potential risks to human health and the environment. The unique physical and chemical properties of PFAS impart oil, water, stain, and soil repellency, chemical and thermal stability, and/or friction reduction to a range of products. These products have application in many industries, including the aerospace, semiconductor, medical, automotive, construction, electronics, and aviation industries, as well as in consumer products and firefighting applications.
The ITRC PFAS Team has developed this online resource, which includes a Technical and Regulatory Guidance Document, Fact Sheets, Training Resources, and Data Tables. This resource is designed to support state and federal environmental staff, as well as stakeholders, project managers, decision makers, and others, to gain a working knowledge of the state of PFAS science and practice.
