The ITRC Training Program assists ITRC's advancement of innovative environmental decision-making by helping ITRC create and deliver high-quality training courses. The Training Program provides an organized, structured, and consistent approach to training curricula development and delivery in conjunction with technical teams. The ITRC Training Program is led by the Training Program Coordinator of the ITRC Board of Advisors and includes functions performed by ITRC technical teams, training instructors, and contract support.
ITRC training development and delivery is an ITRC implementation activity connected to ITRC projects (not a stand-alone function). ITRC Technical/Regulatory Guidance documents serve as the basis for ITRC training curricula. For more information on the ITRC Proposal Process for ITRC Project approval and funding, please visit the Planning page.
Internet-Based Training
Internet-based training is based on ITRC technical and regulatory guidance documents. ITRC Internet-based training classes are hosted in conjunction with U.S. EPA's Technology Innovation and Field Services Division (TIFSD). For current classes, you can go directly to U.S. EPA's Clu-In Web page to register. ITRC develops and delivers training courses via the Internet to reach a geographically dispersed audience of regulators, consultants, and other members of the environmental community. These courses create a unique forum for the exchange of technical and regulatory information and reflect the consensus opinion of ITRC members from states and federal environmental agencies, the private sector, and citizen stakeholders.
The training sessions, lasting two to three hours, cover technical and regulatory information specific to environmental technologies and innovative approaches. Question-and-answer periods enable participant/instructor interaction. At the end of the presentation, participants are guided to links for related documents and other online resources. Registration for the courses opens 4-6 weeks prior to each course offering. The courses are hosted on U.S. EPA Clu-in Web page servers; click here to see upcoming courses and to register. The Training Frequently Asked Questions page provides answers to common questions.
Multi-Day Classroom Training
Multi-day classroom training development and delivery requires an ITRC technical and regulatory guidance document to serve as a basis, demonstrated market need for more in-depth curriculum, and an associated proposal jointly developed by the ITRC Training Program and the related technical team. ITRC's nationwide training courses are unique forums for the exchange of technical and regulatory information related to environmental remediation. Classroom training courses are offered in classroom settings where participants can receive in-person, face-to-face training. ITRC's multi-day classroom training events include hands-on problem solving to engage the students with real world and site applications. Multi-day classroom training is often provided in conjunction with an ITRC member state. The Training Frequently Asked Questions page provides answers to common questions.
